Inventive lyrics, rebellious song structure, that keeps the listener’s body moving and mind wandering to a new hard- rocking stratosphere.
Dyslexic Postcards can be described as “Tropical Trash”, attitude at any volume, a fashionably colorful stage performance & a sense of Marx brothers humor, these debauch rockers have started new era for Rock n’ Roll. Composed mind altering rock-n-roll you can dance to, paired along with insanely imaginative visual art, thus bringing the ultimate sensory experience.
The quintet hails from Miami, Fl. Led by founder, front man, singer/songwriter & guitar player Joshua Xmas, known in the Miami music scene for his outrageous larger than life stage presence and dynamic vocal range. Miami’s local indie fav, bass guitarist & back-up vocalist is Gatoe Xango. Long time friend Lucianno Guidini adds a sonic wall of guitar riffs & solos that give the band its ‘1, 2 knock out punch.’ Providing catchy keyboard melodies, ambient synth sounds & back-up vocals is Johann Murillo, while JoeSmooth lays down hard hitting drums that will knock the competition out & will keep ‘em down. All of which can be heard on the bands latest Tropical Trash Music release “Spare The Altar” (March 2011).
Their consistency has gain them a solid following & achieved them opening slots for ‘The Ataris’, ‘The Independents’, UK artist ‘The Vibrators’. Hard rocking Atlanta natives ‘Monstro’ & ‘Black Tusk’ have also shared the stage w/DP.
The band’s sound, is replicated in their live performances as they have demonstrated through out the North East of the United States. With fresh copies of their record ‘Spare The Altar’ & fashionable merchandise, Dyslexic took their talents on the road in the spring of 2011 with a 3 1/2 week, 11 city tour, cheerfully dubbed ‘Might As Well Get It On.’ They managed to hit all the major cities on the East coast & made their way back via Cleveland, Louisville, Nashville, Savannah & a final stop at their home base of Miami, Fl.
The new year brought about fresh ideas & a different approach to recording. From January to March 2012 the boys hooked up with long time friend Rat Bastard (Laundry Room Squelchers, Scraping Teeth)at “The Rats’s Nest” in Miami Beach. Rat’s extensive touring, recording, mixing & engineering skills were the ideal way to go with the sound DP was searching for. RAW, LOUD & HEAVY. Thus, “Chewing On Light Bulbs” is born. The new vinyl EP will be released this Summer/Fall 2012 via Tropical Trash Music. Catch DP on the road this June as they head up to NYC for a few dates & another recording session at famed Water Music Studios in New Jersey. Till then enjoy the site, sounds & we’ll see you on the road.
